Start with the required system capacity, usable unshaded roof area and module dimensions. A 2kW to 3kW home system may use multiple 600Wp, 610Wp or 630W modules depending on the inverter’s approved string design and the roof layout. A 5kW or larger commercial system can use fewer high-wattage modules, but a 740W panel is physically larger and heavier, so structure, handling, wind loading and access must be checked first.
